SEARCH TRIANGLE, NC–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today Lenovo™ announced the new all-in-one virtual reality (VR) headset designed for the company. The six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) ThinkReality with a slim and comfortable profile™ The VRX features pancake optics and high-resolution color pass-through capabilities for mixed reality (MR) applications. The ThinkReality VRX is also supported by a comprehensive suite of end-to-end services to help businesses accelerate solution delivery and realize faster return on investment.
Gateway to Enterprise Metaverse
The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is designed to be the VR solution for workers everywhere. The immediacy and fidelity of the new digital tools experienced through extended reality (XR) devices means that workforces are almost unconstrained by time and space. Whether improving the efficiency of employee training and virtual collaboration or expanding 3D design and engineering tasks, XR technologies are becoming more important than ever for businesses, enabling hybrid workers to do more.
Virtual reality, in particular, gives impressive results in training applications. Businesses benefit from training up to 4x faster on soft skills compared to classroom training and 275% more confidence in applying skills learned in VR. Additionally, virtual reality training can reduce the risk of injury in the workplace by up to 43%.i, ii
As a global leader in providing intelligent business transformation solutions, Lenovo designed the ThinkReality VRX to be a high-quality, versatile, and secure on-ramp to the enterprise metaverse. The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX works with six or three degrees of freedom content and works as a standalone device or connected to a PC or workstation for streaming experiencesiii. The ThinkReality VRX is also capable of using cloud-based rendering solutions, such as NVIDIA CloudXR™ for graphics-intensive XR experiences requiring high-end GPU performance.
The integrated ThinkReality software platform enables IT and operations to deploy, configure and manage XR devices at scale. Client companies can help workers with updates and analytics to optimize worker performance.
The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is supported by a comprehensive suite of end-to-end services – from consulting and content creation to cloud deployment and customer support – to help organizations succeed in the new realities of the business environment. The enterprise VR solution also supports enterprise-grade security practices with a secure supply chain and manufacturing process that scrutinizes every component and service supplier.
Next level VR design features
The ThinkReality VRX headset incorporates several key design advancements to make it more comfortable for extended VR sessions in the office, at home, or anywhere the hybrid workforce gets things done.
Innovative crepe optics and slim form factor reduce the overall profile of the helmet while the optimal battery position for better weight distribution and balance provides better fit and feel. The all-in-one VR headset also includes materials that are easy to clean between uses.
Four front-mounted cameras provide 6DoF tracking, along with two high-resolution color pass-through cameras to give workers a better, uninterrupted user experience while performing tasks. Pass-through technology also provides MR application capabilities, allowing users to overlay 3D graphics on the real world so workers can do more with a single XR device.
The ThinkReality VRX is powered by a Snapdragon™ XR platform to enable next-level performance for immersion and interactivity in an all-in-one XR headset so workers can optimize in virtual environments.
Open platform, growing ecosystem
No one organization will build the Metaverse, Lenovo is committed to working with industry leaders to advance the growth and adoption of this emerging platform. Companies can develop for the ThinkReality VRX using the Snapdragon Spaces™ XR development platform and its OpenXR-based SDK.
“Our customers are looking for reliable, flexible, and scalable gateways to the growing enterprise metaverse. They need enterprise-class solutions for the new realities of working in hybrid scenarios and virtual environments,” said Vishal Shah, general manager of XR and Metaverse, Lenovo. “We designed the Lenovo ThinkReality VRX to be the VR solution of choice for immersive 3D training and collaboration.”
The ThinkReality VRX is supported by its XR solution portfolio which includes a cloud-based software platform to help deploy and manage enterprise applications and content globally, as well as ThinkReality XR services. XR Professional Services provides end-to-end, vendor-neutral services to help customers from strategy to delivery.
