Five 2022 Readiness Innovation Challenge Winners Announced at Defense TechConnect Innovation Summit and Expo

Defense TechConnect’s six innovation challenges feature “Shark Tank” style presentations by startups, universities and national labs competing for more than $500,000 in total prices and access to more than $50 billion in the project management of the prototype type for government clients.

WASHINGTON, October 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Advanced Technology International (ATI) and TechConnect today announced the five winners of the 2022 Readiness Innovation Challenge. Selected from a pool of 18 finalists, the winners received a total $50,000 in cash prizes at the Defense TechConnect (DTC) Innovation Summit & Expo, the nation’s largest annual gathering of emerging non-traditional dual-use technologies aligned with government priority requirements.

Each winner presented their innovation during the conference’s “Shark Tank” style pitch; finalists were given eight minutes to pitch to industry and government leaders based on the participating contract vehicles.

The five winners and their innovations are:

  • circular optics, Rochester, NY: A new technology that produces 360-degree video for VR training and synthetic environments by assembling multiple camera feeds into a single coherent panoramic video.

  • Grayscale AI LTD, London, England: A virtual simulation platform for artificial intelligence (AI) spatial awareness training for low SWaP (size, weight, power) platforms, such as drones, with time tracking and mapping real at the periphery of the computer.

  • Johns Hopkins University/MR surgeon, Baltimore, Maryland: An interactive software platform that uses real-time augmented reality guidance to help surgeons perform their procedures safely.

  • Neuro Rehab VR, ft. Worth, TX: An immersive virtual reality system for rehabilitation designed to accelerate physical therapy recovery for patients by increasing engagement and making therapy fun and functional.

  • SimWerx, Denver, Colorado.: A multi-modal medical simulation training that rapidly adapts and improves multi-victim extended care training for geographically dispersed teams in austere environments to maximize instructor capabilities, training effectiveness and real-world situational awareness for complex casualty care.

This challenge offers a $50,000 awards for innovations in modeling, simulation and training for civil and national security applications, including gaming technologies, synthetic environments, human immersion, AR/VR, medical MS&T, data analytics , artificial intelligence/machine learning, complex domain systems and experimentation and validation.
